Our story
Maré Alta opened in 2009 on land the Menezes family have farmed since the 1880s.
Between the river and the sea
The family kept the coconut groves and the old well and built low, so the trees stay taller than the roofs.
Today 240 people work here, most of them from the villages of Cavelossim and Mobor.
How we run the resort
- Solar provides 40% of our power
- No single-use plastic in rooms
- Rainwater harvested for the gardens
- Seafood from local boats only
